چکیده

Based on the higher order nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the amplification and the reshaping of ultrashort pulses are investigated. The numerical results show that the direct amplification of femtosecond pulses can be achieved by injecting a continuous wave (CW) and filtering the CW at suitable positions in the presence of higher-order dispersion and nonlinear effects. The combination of continuous wave pump and spectral filter placed suitably in fiber plays the role of the amplifier, which can be used to long-haul transmission of pulses. As an example, long-haul transmission with four amplification periods is demonstrated. The effects of higher-order dispersion and Raman effect on the long-haul transmission of pulses are also discussed.

Rogue wave modes for a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger model.

Rogue waves in fluid dynamics and optical waveguides are unexpectedly large displacements from a background state, and occur in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with positive linear dispersion in the regime of positive cubic nonlinearity. Rogue waves of a derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation are calculated in this work as a long-wave limit of a breather (a pulsating mode), and can occur ...

Symmetric and asymmetric optical multipeak solitons on a continuous wave background in the femtosecond regime.

We study symmetric and asymmetric optical multipeak solitons on a continuous wave background in the femtosecond regime of a single-mode fiber. Key characteristics of such multipeak solitons, such as the formation mechanism, propagation stability, and shape-changing collisions, are revealed in detail. Our results show that this multipeak (symmetric or asymmetric) mode could be regarded as a sing...

Rogue waves, rational solitons and wave turbulence theory

Considering a simple one dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger optical model, we study the existence of rogue wave events in the highly incoherent state of the system and compare them with the recently identified hierarchy of rational soliton solutions. We show that rogue waves can emerge in the genuine turbulent regime and that their coherent deterministic description provided by the rational soli...

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...
